Jewel on the Wrist – Mido Multifort 8 Two Crowns

The Multifort 8 Two Crowns by Mido is a budget-friendly option for those who want a sporty integrated bracelet watch with some rather interesting features. As the number “8” in the name suggests, the watch has a uniquely shaped round bezel, with 8 facets cut out sloping downwards from the sides, which makes the case have a jewel-like quality when worn on the wrist.

The case measures 40mm wide and 9.5mm thick, and this, combined with the lug to lug dimensions of 44.86mm make this an easy watch to wear for most people,

When looking at the watch, you might think that it only has the typical time and date complications, but you’d be wrong. The second crown, at the 2 o’clock position, allows you to rotate an inner bezel, useful when measuring events under one hour, and working very much in the same way as a diving bezel, but usefully hidden away when not needed. Both crowns are screw-down, which helps to guarantee water resistance at 100 metres.

The movement here is Mido’s own Calibre 72, featuring a Nivachron balance spring for enhanced magnetic resistance, and a power reserve of 72 hours.

The Multifort 8 Two Crowns come in three variations at launch. This blue dial version here, with a matching rubber strap, this black dial version, on a metal bracelet, and lastly, this gray dial version, also on a metal bracelet. All watches feature an easy change system making it convenient to swap between straps or bracelets at will.

How much do you pay for all these features? Well, as a guide, the rubber strap version comes in at 1020 CHF and the bracelet one at 1050 CHF, which, in the typical Mido way, is frightfully excellent and a tremendous value.
